Volunteer work

I helped the Danish for about five hours from 11P.M in the morning to the 4P.M in the afternoon. First, I met the people you leads to me in the 10-D classroom, and then Peter led us to the dormitory because it is the closest place near the 10-D classroom. Unfortunately, we got refused because they said they could not let us in without the admission from the students’ office. So we decided to go to the football field first, then, go to the student’s office, while we are showing them our art classroom. So we went to the football field and talked about how we played sport game on the field, and we said that we love that field so much ,that is favourite place of ours.they are quite intersting about our P.E calaases, and they said in the half of the schooltime, they played sports games with P.E classed. Of coure, we were very envious of them. We kept talking and Victor came to us and said that he had already got the tickets. We were very glad to hear that and decide to lead them back to the dormitory, on the way back to the aformaitory ,they saw our cafeteria and said tht our cafaeteriaa seems to be very good, and we told them that it is not as good as it looks like. Finally, we arrived in the dormitory and they saw a beautiful scene, everthing is in order except one of our dormmate was still sleeping. We had called Victor to clean up our bedroom, but unfortunately, this guy just did not get the idea that it is not good to be seen as sleeping in the bed when it is almost 12A.M, and my friend Victor was not strong enough to wake him up, so the Danish student may have a feeling that Chinese student are very lazy. After all, the Danish students seems to feel fine about our job, and as you have known, I took out my big great box to let them know that I was such a kind man that I would do whatever I can to help the poor students. So they all donate some money and some of classmates got mad for me that moment, but afterwards, it does not even matter.
After finish my job in the morning, Joe asked me to have the dinner with the Danish students which they are working with, so I was very glad to have some Swish food with them, however, the foods are very expensive, and I did not have too much money that time, so it makes me feel really hard. Luckily I finsihed that as fast as I can and leave the places, and I used that as Western food as either. Anyway, I really enjoy this experience, and I think I will do it again if I have another chance.. At Qingming Festival, our mother’s conpany made a trip to the Yuhua cemetery to clean the frave, this is the traditional event of China and more than twenty of the collegues went to the place to remind their ancestor and their passed away familyship. That day was raining, nobody of the team seems to be very happy, we are our thinking about the dead people which could never become a happy topic.people are very confused when they faces the death. In the afternoon, we finally arrived the cemetery, all of us had brought some paper money and some red pigment which used to decorate the name on the gravestones. We used a long time to paint the gravestone which exactly is not my bussiness, I am always wiliing to burn the paper money, I think if they do not have enough money, nobody will care what names they have. So I think it is much more important to have more money than having a famous name, like myself, my name is Chenkun which is the same as a famous star;s name, but this never help me, in fact, if anybody ever want t have a famous star’s name, they even do not need more than one hundred RMB. Anyway, I felt confused about some nemes on the gravestones because the only thing I know about my ancestor is that their last name is Chen, and the only familyship of me who lies on that land is my uncle, however, I had never seem him because he was already dead before I was born. So I always feel confused when I come to the cemetery. Anyway, we had a fine trip and I will always miss my uncle and my ancestors.

I visit this place in the May holiday, the first impression of this place of me is I went to a big garden. In fact, when I first came here, I never knew this is the famous temper, I used to think this is some kind of gardens, I wonder the beautiful of this place and it is really fantastic because it is both modern and traditional. I would like to visit this place some other days. I strongly recommended you and the other teacher to visit this place because it is the valuable treasure of the Chinese culture.

Watching performance

Watching Performance I watched the taming of shrew long long time ago, it is a nice play which I really enjoy. I used to want to help dear Ms. Bartell with the preparation stuff, but I am totally late, so it made me very hard to help our glad planning teacher Ms. Bartell. I think it is a great shame to be late to volunteer and mess up the entire thing, but unless I could watch the show. i really did not understand Shakespeare's sense of humor, but the noisy sound of the main character’s speaking really impressed my ears. Unfortunately, my ears really didn't enjoy the sound, so I prefer to talk with one of my acquaintances who sit next to me. We have a great talk, and my ESL classmate always changed the topic when he thought the question was embarrassed. So I never get the idea what he was trying to talk about. I talked about if he has a girl friend, he said: “The weather is great.” And I want to talk about his grade, it is a sunny day. So we are just wasted our time instead of watching the inapprehensible performance. The only thing that impressed me during the performance was the sleeping guy who sits in front of the stage; I was thinking if he was sleeping or just pretended. It would be very hard for me to sit on the stage and sleep for more than an hour; i really do not think he was sleeping that moment because it is too noisy over that time. So I really respected his patient. I could hardly think of staying on the stage for an hour and do nothing, this would probably kill me. I think the boy who acts as the father is really a great actor.
After all, the show is not as bad as I thought it will be. At least, unless one of third GCA students went there and waited until it is over including me. And most of the GCA teacher went to the show which is a good thing. I hope we could have some other Shakespeare’s drama because it is fantastic. And after all, I want to say word do not concern your name, and make me very confused if I had typed your name correctly.

On November 22, 1937, as the Japanese Army advanced on Nanjing, Rabe, along with other foreign nationals, organized the International Committee and drew up the Nanjing Safety Zone to provide Chinese refugees with food and shelter upon the impending Japanese slaughter. He explained his reasons thus: "..there is a question of morality here.. I cannot bring myself for now to betray the trust these people have put in me, and it is touching to see how they believe in me." The zones were located in all of the foreign embassies and at Nanjing University. Rabe also opened up his properties to help 650 more refugees. The following massacre would kill hundreds of thousands of people, while Rabe and his zone administrators tried frantically to stop the atrocities. His attempts to appeal to the Japanese by using his Nazi membership credentials only delayed them; but that delay allowed hundreds of refugees to escape. In the documentary film Nanking it was said he was responsible for saving 250,000 Chinese civilians..(From Rabe’s dairy)
Today, I visit Rabe’s house at Xiao Fen Qiao. It is really hard for people to image how Rabe could keep brave and saved refugees as possible as he could. Rabe and her family were threatened and abused by japanese for several times to hand in the refugees to the japanese, but he kept his mind and never gave up saving human. I think we should learn something from Rabe which is we should always try our best to help people and never gave up the wishes, if Rabe was once afraid of the japanes and gave the refugees to the japanese, they must be killed very cruelly. And Rabe’s story also reminded me that if a country is not powerful enough, it would be too easy for other countries to invade. So we should study hard and work hard to build china into a strong and powerful country, and never let the historical tragedy happen again.
Rabe’s house was very beautiful for me as well; it is hard for me to believe if a citizen of Nanjing could live in such a kind of decorated place. Rabe could live in such a fantastic house because he is not only a Germany officer but also a representative of the Siemens Company which used to be the largest company in the world. I feel very glad to see the old buildings of Nanjing because it is very cultural and have great gardens; you can hardly find this kind of buildings in Nanjing. I think you should see some old buildings in Nanjing if you have free time.
